Community Based Support (CBS) is an authorised provider of support services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. We have been involved in providing support to NDIS participants around Tasmania since the start of the trial in 2013.

We provide in-home, centre-based and community-based support to people living with disability and people with mental illness to enable you to remain living independently in the community.

Getting an NDIS plan can seem hard but there is lots of information to help.

If you don’t have an NDIS plan but think you or your loved one need one, you will need to register with the NDIS.

Our NDIS services

Currently, we provide the following types of support under the NDIS to maintain your independence, social connections and develop your skills.

If you are not eligible for government funding, we can support you privately if you wish to self-fund. Just contact us to talk about how we can assist.

  • Assistance with self-care activities

    This includes aid with care such as:

    • Showering and bathing
    • Dressing
    • Personal grooming like hairstyling or having a shave
    • Applying topical creams and taking medications
    • Many other aspects of help – just ask us.
  • Assistance to access community, social and recreational activities

    Aids you to access and stay connected in your community – visit the library, church or cinema, go shopping or attend a class for fitness – the choices are endless!

  • Individual skills development

    Together, we support you to develop skills to participate in activities such as  shopping, bill paying, taking part in social activities and maintaining contact with others by engaging in the community.

  • Group based social activities

    Our social hubs provide a fun way for people to keep in touch with friends in a safe and supportive environment. Activities are run at the hub location and there is also a scheduled program of activities out and about in the community.

  • Home modifications

    Home modifications can make things easier for you by building ramps, putting rails in place and modifying bathrooms. Talk to us about what you need.

  • Household tasks

    We can provide help with your household tasks including cooking and cleaning.
